Why do Alabama & Auburn college football teams have so much rivalry & hatred towards each other?
I never learned about the rivalry between these two teams & I've always been curious as to why they hate each other.

They are the two largest public universities in the state of Alabama. Traditionally, they are bragging rights to the game's winner.

We just hate each other. No specific event except for losing. All I know is, I hate Bama fans, most classless in college football. I hope Auburn kicks the Hell outta them. And Adrian, How's OU doing this year? that's a shame. Auburn fans hate Alabama fans and the University of Alabama, Alabama fans hate Auburn fans and Auburn University, and we here at Auburn Nation are sick of Bama fan's constant arrogance. Also, with a minute left and the score 36-0, the bama punter shanked one, and Saban yelled at the Punter,"DON'T DO THAT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!! I WANT TO BEAT THESE MOTHER******S AS BAD AS POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!". That's very true, it's confirmed. Why would anyone want to play for him, btw?? I don't see how he recruits when he's a terrible person. Alabama fans are so arrogant and think of themselves as the 2nd comings of Jesus. The BCS loves them because of their name, not because of how good they are. That's why I'll laugh next year when Star Jackson takes the keys. He sucks badly! He's like Kodi Burns, but worse.

its a rivalry game. you ask people in OK and TX and they hate eachother, or in Ohio and Michigan they hate eachother. All I know is a couple of years ago a guy wearing a Texas shirt walked into a bar in OK and ended up getting castrated by 3 OU fans I could really care less about Alabama or Auburn but thats just me, just like War Eagle could really care less about Texas

Because they are close together, and a lot of them come from the same schools. It's all about Bragging rights. You'll have neighbors and family members that are fans of opposing teams, so there is a lot on the line. Hey Norry, did Bear Bryant ever go for a two point conversion up 48-14 against Auburn? Woody Hayes would make sure they filled up the buses in Toledo because he didn't want to spend a dime in Michigan. He never said the word Michigan. Right after 9-11, OSU campus police searched the Michigan team buses for an hour to look for "explosive devices" making the players wait on the side of the road. The following year, Michigan State Police shut down every road back to Columbus creating a massive traffic jam. I can assure you that there is as much hatred in the OSU/Michigan rivalry.

Because down here in alabama we have team pride. Winning is every thing . The paul bear bryant 4 example he was the greatest coach in D-1 college football and will forever b.We don't play football as a game. WE LIVE IT and losing ain't gunna work.. were not a bunch of pansys that play it 4 fun and were not a bunch of pansys that want 2 look good For example the Big 12 says thier great but realy how good are yall with out texas oklahoma , and the occational good season out of The red raider,realys how good are they.Back 2 the iron bowl ,the greatest abd most heated rivalry in history of sports, we have hated each other from the beging , it was so bad that we refused to play each other for over 40 years and , and i hope that ansewers u r question and shuts alll those Big 12 and PAC 10 teams up(did u know that the PAC 10 is to stupid 2 count there is acualy 11 teams in the confrence) sinserly RMZ bama fan
