Regular dancing and dancing while cheer-leading is similar but a lot harder. Usually you count the usual 5-6-7-8 following steps, but to actually be admitted into a dance team you need to know how to pick up choreography quickly and hit your moves right on beat. This should come naturally to you since you did cheer-leading, but to pick up choreography is A LOT harder. It takes practice to get better at learning choreography more quickly. The audition will most likely take up a few days (2/3) and consist of learning a dance in a certain amount of time (like I said, 2/3 days) then displaying a freestyle. I suggest start making up dances to songs you already know and try challenging yourself with harder moves. Don't be afraid to make something up that looks "wack". The more you challenge yourself with moves that seem hard the better you will get. Exaggerate you moves, it makes dances look a lot better (not like you are trying too hard) and it makes the audience see your movements a lot better. I STRONGLY suggest making up dances with someone who already does dance so they could teach you the basic skills. Being flexible is always a plus and your body weight doesn't really matter. I can't really help you out through this answer but the best thing i could tell you is to find someone who dances and dance with them before tryouts.
